The Health Benefits of Pine or Fir Trees.

Today I was reminded of the use of Pine needles to make a tea to help with cold or allergy symptoms. So as our seasons change and we will be faced with needing to increase our vitamin C intake to aid our bodies to maintain good health , I thought I better share and pick some for my self.

Pine and Fir trees are a powerful plant medicine that helps heal our mind , body and spirit. The needles are loaded with vitamin C, 5 times more than oranges. along with vitamins A, E, and a host of B vitamins. I make a tea from them. The recipe and information was found at Sacred Science. Great site.

Sacred Pine Needle Tea

Ingredients: ½ c. young pine needles (a small handful 3 c. spring water 1 slice of lemon (optional)

Instructions: 1. Bring water just to a boil. 2. Destem and remove the brown papery sheaths at the base of the needles. 2. Chop needles into ½-inch pieces, to help release essence. 3. Place 1 Tbsp. of chopped needles into a mug, and pour boiling water over needles, and allow to steep for 5-10 minutes. 4. Squeeze lemon into tea for flavor, or use as garnish.

The bark also can be eaten or make an extract . It has many health benefits. The pine nuts found in the scales or spines of the pine cone have health benefits of appetite suppressant, boosts energy levels, reduces risk of heart disease, anti aging, improving vision. Can use them on a salad or enjoy as a snack.

I have a video on you tube also going through the benefits and how to steep the tea. Please check it out. grandmawillow is the you tube site also. Have a Great day, happy sipping.
